Our skin is the first defence of our organism from external agents and in order to be always efficient it needs a lot of hydration.

The most superficial layer of the skin, the Stratum Corneum, thanks to the Keratin present in the cells, besides acting as a barrier against the penetration of bacteria and microorganisms, it also acts as a thermal insulator and regulates the amount of water in the deeper layers of the skin, managing to keep hydration at optimal levels.

Correct hydration of the Stratum Corneum is therefore of fundamental importance to keep the skin soft and supple. In the absence of the correct water supply, in fact, the skin becomes brittle, loses its elasticity and softness, being rough to the touch and very dry. Dehydration also leads to degradation of Collagen and Elastin fibres, causing premature skin ageing, characterised by wrinkles and lack of tone.

The causes of dehydration are many: decreasing in environmental humidity, increasing in temperature, sun exposure, metabolic dysfunction, and using of inadequate cleansers or soaps.

To help the skin maintaining its hydration, it is necessary to apply customised cosmetic products based on skin characteristics. The solution proposed by our Laboratories is the Aqua Collection, which contains specific active ingredients such as:

• Hydraterm – a compound of seaweed rich in vitamins and minerals that helps the skin maintaining the correct level of hydration.
• Hyaluronic Acid – substance already present at the dermis level, is a deep moisturiser. Present in the Ground Substance, it plays an important role for the formation of new Collagen and Elastin fibres.
• Vitamin C – Ascorbic Acid is a powerful antioxidant able to increase the skin’s defences for a protected and hydrated skin.
